FCL Services

The location of our wharf facility in Sims Street West Melbourne (less than a minute’s drive from the entrance to the Port of Melbourne) enables us to service our customers’ wharf requirements in the most efficient manner and to keep a pulse on the wharf operations on a real time basis through the course of the day and night.

We operate around the clock from 5pm Sunday to 12pm Saturday, utilising a fleet of:

over 140 prime movers
15 Super B-Doubles, 20 B-Doubles, 16 sideloaders and over 190 various trailer configurations including B-Double and standard tautliners to move your freight as efficiently as possible and
6 reachstackers across our sites

providing the ability for us to deliver to customers 24 hours a day.

Warehouse Capacity

BFS Extra has in excess of 17,500sqm meters of warehousing capacity within 5kms of the Melbourne Port and all major arterial roads. All warehouses are strictly controlled by CCTV security cameras, state of the art internal security systems and fully monitored back to base alarm control.

Hardstand Capacity

BFS Extra has in excess of 65,000sqm meters of container hard stand for efficient FCL handling on night shift to ensure there are no delays in freight availability. Six 45T reachstackers operate across all hours of the day allowing the hardstand to comfortably handle in excess of 2,500TEU at any one time within the site.

Section 77G Depot

Via our wholly owned subsidiary Melbourne Freight Station, BFS Extra is one of only a handful of truly independent Australian Customs Section 77G Depots in Melbourne and provides the following services:

FAK and FCL container unpacks
Direct interface with Customs for cargo clearance & reporting
Onsite Customs inspections
Onsite AQIS inspections and fumigations
Customs controlled security cage with CCTV
Free storage period for FAK shipments

AQIS Facility

As an Approved AQIS facility, BFS Extra is able to offer onsite freight inspection services, attendance at all AQIS bookings along with on site AQIS treatments such as fumigation by Methyl Bromide or Profume.

Having on site fumigators permanently on our site means we can offer a turn around of AQIS directed fumigations that is rarely met in the industry. Our recently extended 1,500sqm fumigation pad ensures your goods are not waiting for space to be fumigated and cleared.

Warehousing Solutions

BFS extra is able to provide general warehousing services for all of our customers whether it be for short term, long term or 3PL requirements – tracking goods by customer order number, required delivery date, SKU and container number. With an industry tailored warehousing program along with state of the art security systems you will know your freight is safe with us.
